The book Photosynthesis Solar Energy for Life  
by Dr. Dmitry Shevela, Prof. Lars Olof Björn, Prof. Govindjee 
was awarded The Best Biophysics Books of All Time prize by BookAuthority. 

Photosynthesis has been an important field of research for a century, but the present concerns regarding energy, environment and climate have greatly intensified interest in, and research on, this topic.
Research in this field has progressed rapidly in recent years, and this book is an interesting read for an audience who is concerned with various ways of harnessing solar energy.

The book is suitable for advanced undergraduate and graduate students of plant biology, microbiology and biochemistry, as well as researchers in solar energy systems.

Protein Extraction Buffer (PEB) is a universal extration buffer for the disruption and solubilisation of total protein from plant tissue (root, leaf) and algal cells. It contains anionic detergent LDS, which together with the recommended procedure, which is a combination of sonication and freeze/thaw cycles, has been shown to increase the amount of solublised and non-degraded proteins, compared to other methods.

Protocols to work with plant and algal protein extracts

Please note that some proteins may require specific extraction conditions, as they may degrade in light or during extraction. Therefore, protein extraction protocol has to be modified accordingly.
