Background: Coproporphyrinogen III oxidase is an enzyme in the biosynthesis of tetrapyrroles. This isoform is encoded by a single nuclear gene in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. The abundance of the protein increases in copper deficient cells. The protein is localized to the chloroplast.
